As most of you will know, this Friday 4 November Deakin university is hosting a free public lecture, ‘Changing contours of global order’, by Noam Chomsky. That is why tonight, 2 November from 5-6.30pm in ib3.307 on the Waurn Ponds campus, the Deakin Philosophical Society will discuss a recent article by Professor Chomsky on the topic of American decline. The article is available at http://english.al-akhbar.com/content/american-decline-causes-and-consequences.

Links to more of Professor Chomsky's work relevant to his presentation can be found on the event's Facebook page.

We'll also discuss transport arrangements to Friday's presentation, for those people who are attending. A few of us catching the train up together.

In other news...

Last week the DPS hosted its AGM. Jason Bishop waged a successful coup, backed by Erin Kennis. Here's the fallout:

  • 2012 President: Jason Bishop
  • 2012 Secretary: Erin Kennis
  • 2102 Treasurer: Dylan Nickelson

I'd like to thank the outgoing, 2011 committee for their service and to congratulate the incoming, 2012 committee.

Kind regards,

and sorry for the late notice,

Dylan Nickelson,
Treasurer, Deakin Philosophical Society.
